San Francisco Sunday in pictures

So Lynnie and I decided that we will do a Sunday in pictures from the east coast to the west coast, we documented everything we did in pictures and will link {Click here for Lynettes blog} each post to the others blog, for the world to view.

Sabrina's San Francisco Sunday in pictures:

7:00 am- Woke up to the thought of having to find an apartment, seeing as I had no luck the day before. So I stayed in bed and made calls and did some on-line searching.

9:30 am- Breakfast in bed.

10:00 am-Got up and got ready for the day. Put on my cloths and brushed my teeth and headed out for a cup of coffee.

And ready (although I did change my shirt at the last minute).

11:30 am- Sat on the train from Berkeley to San Francisco with my coffee. I was going to view apartments and go to Tet which is the Vietnamese new year. Why go to tet? One may ask. Because its my job. She answered.

12:00 pm- Walked up and down nob hill looking at apartments.

1:45 pm- Walked down to the Tenderloin for the Tet celebration and got lost along the way.

2:00-3:30 pm- Tet Celebration! Party and the street far! The picture of the car is a project that my foundation does. :)

3:30 pm- Leave Tet. Realize I am in the middle of the Tenderloin and fear for my life as I try and walk quickly out of it. (did not stop for pictures) Then I came across this great farmers market in the middle of the city. Small but charming and I bought some nuts and dried fruit. Then I got hit on by the man at the booth who asked me for my number. I said no and promptly left.

4:00 pm- Walked around the city and decided to head back to Berkeley on the subway.

4:30 pm- Stopped at this friendly Greek place, where the old owner refused me my french fries, saying "it was to much food for me" and I should eat my plate first and if I am still hungry he will make them after. With my food he then brought me out five fries to "satisfy my craving".

5:00pm- Walked home and took a long nap, then got up and drank some wine out of 2 buck chuck bottle because I have no glasses, and watched a movie on my netflix. :)

Now off to bed with a movie and a little more wine.

I hope you enjoyed my day in pictures. :)

Sassi's Big day in the Bi....uh...Little Berkeley

So, because it was a great rainy day I could not stay indoors and thought I should go out and explore the area of downtown Berkeley. Its a great eclectic town full of restaurants, book stores and some great little shops along the way.

First I stopped at place called Crepevine. There I had fresh squeezed orange juice, a Greek omelette and a cup of coffee. Yum. It was so good. I feel I have ended up in food heaven which means I will have to do a lot more walking! But more on that in my next food post. :)

Then I headed down the street and stepped into this boutique called SALA. It reminded me a lot of a Paris boutique that Kiki and I stepped into when we were there last fall. It is owned by a lovely women from south America who lived in Paris for a while! We started talking and she invited me to drinks and fashion event tonight and said I can call her anytime for advice on where to go and what to do (I think I made a friend :)).

After getting her number and accepting her invitation tonight, I left and headed out to find Trader Joe's and I got lost. So I took myself on an accidental tour of all of Berkeley, which was nice to see. So many small streets that reminded me of Europe.

Then I found Trader Joe's and while they do have lots of good foods and good prices, I found they did not have much in the way of gluten free... but that was okay. I bought my provisions for the week and headed home.

Now time for a small nap and then getting ready for tonight... oh what should I wear!

Cheers!

Food: Part I

So since I have come here, I have had the opportunity to already eat some great food. Below is a list of some of my favorites thus far!

Great Mediterranean place on 322 Kearny Street called Petrino:

By the way Kearny street is this little hidden side street that used to be one of the worst streets in SF then the community decided to change it and one restaurant moved in and with in three years it became this little hidden street with some of the best food. Now the whole thing is just great little restaurants. About 8 in all. :)

Then is Mariposa:

which is a great little gluten free bakery, with some great treats and great bread! they have a location in Oakland and then a little shop down in the Ferry market. YUM!

Then comes all the great Indian:

Since I have come here I have been to three different Indian restaurants and have loved them all!

So there are just a few of my favorites... more to come in Food: Part II Which will include one of my favorite markets! :)

Night!

Cheers <3

Todays topic: Work

So I work for the AsianWeek Foundation. A small non profit that is growing fast. We are a small office with about five staff members. They are all nice and work hard and so far I have no complaints.

My job is the Development Director. I manage all sponsorships, donations, grants and funding. Its basically my job to make sure we have enough money for everything! Its a good job.

Since I started yesterday, I have become booked with meetings and dinners and work for the next three weeks...crazy busy. But that being said, I like being busy and having stuff to do. However, I look forward to the weekend and exploring parts of San Francisco I have not seen before. :-)

Since I took my work home tonight I should get started so I can get some resting time!

Good night all! and tomorrows topic food (yes I have had enough to already start talking about it!

Cheers,

Sassi

My Room in Berkeley

So the room I am renting is in Berkeley which is only a 20 min ride on the BART to SF downtown where I work. The women I am staying with is a professor and a childrens book writer. She is in her 70's and is really nice. She also has some great art in her home, which I enjoy. Anyways, its a good place and a nice room. Below are picture. It will do until I find my own place. Hopefully soon!

Hello San Francisco (the new Sassi City)

So since my last update, a little over a year ago, a lot has happened. Some really great stuff and some not so great stuff. But in the end is all has lead me here... to this moment. And a new start with a new focus and goals... and some of the old ones.
Today is my first day living in San Francisco. I got a great job with a great non profit and a great director of development position. I am also working on my new on-line business and some other goals.

But the best part is, it is all new. I don't know anyone here and that's one of the exciting parts about this. A new city, a new job and plenty of adventures to be had along the way.

So here's to the new year and whatever it brings!

Cheers,

Sassi

Me in my temp housing. My first night in SF.
